Didn't see where anyone had posted, sure it didn't hit the news much because they have a tendancy to hide these things. Figured this was an 'off topic hunting story':

Bravo:

The civilian statement:

The Sheriff's statement:

Don't know if it said in the reports but I heard he was shooting a .357 mag pistol with a 5" barrell. That's some good shooting. I'd like him on my side any day.

I'm glad that didn't hapen in Austin, they'd have him swinging already
That is after the swat team took him out & found his "cache" of "weapons" "stashed" in his trailer Evil or Very Mad Rolling Eyes

Great story. 165 yards what a shot. Just like the old westerns except for the rv's.

sorry Burt, i searched and didn't see it.

yea he shot a long ways with that .357, i used to practice a bunch with my pistols at longer distances, i could hit a gong at 100 yards every time with my Glock .40 S&W, bit of a holdover lol, ,i've take deer with a .357 Colt Python, but one I shot was right under my stand and the other was about 50 yards...

if the terrain was flat in front of the guy he was shooting at, ,and his aim was too low, he may have skipped the bullets in to the guy. I've taken 3 grouse with one shot from a .30-06 buy shooting around 5-10 feet in front of them and the dirt and junk would kick up and act like a shotgun and take them out

This is a headline in the news
http://gma.yahoo.com/blogs/abc-blogs/cops-credit-calif-hostage-ending-standoff-peacefully-133943045--abc-news-topstories.html

I guess this is how we are supposed to handle hostage situations.
