Anyone know who we could contact to get rid of our trapped dead pigs in the Benavides, Freer or San Diego area? We trap close to 5 - 10 a weekend and have been disposing of them but if anyone wants them locally it would be nice to pass them along. We really don't have any interest in cleaning 5 plus pigs so whoever is looking should be available to gut and clean whatever we provide.
Thanks for your help. |

Dead pigs...could prove to be problematic...especially if they died in the trap or if old rigor has set in pretty good. If you called me and said "Hey Dave, I have couple of pigs I shot in a trap a couple of hours ago. You want them"? I would ask if they are gutted and cooled down. If not, I would pass, tell you I am tied up at the moment but thanks for thinking of me and to please let me know next time.

| We wouldnt shoot them until we had a place for them. Currently we shoot them and clean what we want and haul the rest off. |

LOL. I was pretty sure of that but couldn't tell for sure from how I read it.
In my situation it is now into the 100 degree temps so any found in my trap have been in the shade with plenty of water for one day and one night so I shoot them and am the Strap Assassin for the heat of the summer. The only prosessor has turned of his cooler until Bow season.
I hope someone here can give you some names. I have thought About asking our Game Ranger if he knows a family or two who would take field dressed hawgs but haven't seen him in months

Contact the Game Wardens for that county, County Ag Agent, Chamber of Commerce, they all may know of indigent families or families needing protein which they may not have the means to purchase.
