Do you AR guru's know if there is a muzzle break I can attach to my .204 if my rifle is not tapped?!
Whenever I am filming the gas is so extreme I'd like to be able to displace the gas so that it doesn't linger right in front of the scope/lens. I've missed opportunities for a second follow up shot because the gas was just lingering and I literally could not see.

By "tapped" I assume you mean threaded correct? You can have a gunsmith machine (thread) the barrel and then maybe you could put an A2 flash hider on upside down. You don't need a brake, but maybe there is one that will direct the flash away from the top of the muzzle so your optic won't freak out. Just thinkin upside down... _________________ NRA LIFE MEMBER

Ed, there is nothing you can slip over if the barrel is not threaded
you can take it to any competent gunsmith to thread the barrel, however many gunsmiths that only work on bolt guns don't know how to disassemble to get the barrel off of an AR
I had the same problem on my .17 remington, I had a brake put on it, people laughed that I put a brake on it, but it now kicks less than a .22 MAG and gases are dispersed |

Ed,
A competent gunsmith can put a threaded sleeve on the barrel of a gun. The sleeve is turned to a very tight 'almost fits' tolerance. It is then heated, slipped over the barrel and allowed to cool.
I am told this is the proper solution for putting threads on the muzzle of barrels that want to be threaded. It may have been a sales pitch or hype but, the gunsmith promoting this method said it also didn't upset the harmonics of the barrel.
It all sounded great and believable and I am quite suspect of folks shipping bovine manure.

That's still more weight on the end of the barrel, no matter how the weight got there.
But, often times that may help dampen harmonics some. I've seen the addition
of a flash hider or muzzle break help Mini-14s group a little better than before
they had one attached.
As for the hot gas / smoke in the NV view - not sure that will help.
Some 7 or 8 years ago, I used NV on an AR-15. Damp, warm, and calm nights
were the worst. Cloud of smoke or gas would block your view as has happened
to Ed. Phantom flash hider on that rifle. Smoke / gas slows down and stops
in calm air after going out 20-30 feet seems like. Muzzle flash was no issue at all, it
was the other stuff. _________________ Ban guns to eliminate crime ?
