After a "longer than expected" journey, I'm now a proud owner of a Savage Bear Hunter .300 win mag...
Now the fun begins:

Holding off on installing the scope until after I sell my Marlin XL7 .270. Giving the buyer a chance to test the rifle out. |

| Just curious why you decided against the Long Range Hunter? |

Sweet!
Some don't like the Savages but I think you'll really like the Accutrigger and Accustock. I really like my Savage .308. |

Thanks everyone.
Rick - Because this one had a bear claw on it...
Seriously though, I decided to go with the Bear Hunter because it's about 1 lbs lighter and has a stainless barrel. |

I'm hoping this rifle is as accurate as my DPMS or better. I need to get some range time and focus on making 300 yd shots. |

Dang, good luck! I don't have the skills or scopes for that range!
I hope your rifle shoots well, I think it will. My .308 would do the trick in the right hands. The Savage barrels have always been great, and the newer triggers and stocks have done well for that company. |

| Have you got a chance to shoot that thing yet? I'm very interested in how effective the muzzle break is. |

| I'm not a fan of the accutrigger one came on my savage palma I shot it for about 6 months then changed it out. |

Not yet. The scope that I have for it is currently on another rifle that I'm selling. Couple people want to test the rifle before I remove the scope.
Trust me, I'm with you about the muzzle break. I think between the muzzle break and recoil pad, the combo of the two makes the felt recoil much lighter. I did see a video of a guy shooting this same rifle and his comment was "Has less recoil than that .308". I'm sure there's aftermarket that are better, but I can easily handle .308. Also, I like that I can turn the muzzle break on and off. Once I test it out, I'll post an update. |
