Anyone ever use a traditional muzzleloader on Porky Pig?
Just wondering.... _________________ 2012 Hog Totals=70

I know guys that have, along with black bears in Virginia.
Rather fatal results were had. _________________ Ban guns to eliminate crime ?

yes i have done this 33 times according to my records biggest hog around 200 lbs others were between 60 lbs and 175
i used a thompson center hawken the load was 90 grains pyrodex ffg this is weighed by volume longest shot was 50 yards
the bullet i used was the thompson center 385 gr bullet i got passthroughs on all except for 4 hogs the longest one ran after was around 100 yards. it worked well
i have also used inlines which i used 2 50 grain triple 7 pellets along with a 300 grain hardcast saboted bullet. in my inlines i could have used a max of 150 grains but found the best accuracy was with 100 grains of powder or pellets
here is a decent boar taken with CVA inline in north texasabout 12 years ago

amd actually its not a crazy idea at all before i started my archery addiction i used firearms then progressed to single shots then i went to black powder, i found that black powder kills as well as modern rifles, the ticket is hitting your mark the same as it is with rifle hunting pistol and archery that is the ticket. i got real familiar with my smoke pole i practiced i found a load that was accurate and hit hard, i limited my distance at which i shot animals, i imposed a 75 yard rule for hogs never had to shoot that far longest shot was 50 yards.
give me any 50 call or 54 cal smoke pole and i promise ill kill alot of hogs. hunting begins with confidence, when i hunt i set myself up for success because i set up close along well used trails with the wind in my favor.
but any 50 cal or 54 will work fine for hogs if you do your part _________________ magnus classic bradheads
