|
|
I'm thinking about getting a monocular to make it easier on my arms rather then lifting up the rifle each time. Is there such a thing as a good, inexpensive NV monocular that I could use out to 100 yards?
Thanks for any advice.
Sorry for the long absence. Been swamped taking kid duck hunting locally and in Stuttgart, chasing hogs and working my tail off. |

Charles, I'm currently looking to purchase another monocular also...
I have a 5X Night Owl Gen1 that I'm really liking, (had it about 3-4 yrs now) but am interested in getting something in a 1x magnification for stalking..
If you've ever tried driving or walking while looking thru binoculars, you'll understand the reason for that!
I haven't been able to get out with my Digisight with the Mini-Dvr since getting it set up..Really been wanting to, but recent ills have kept me in..
My question to the "expert stalkers" we have here, is can I get by trying to use a 2x monocular, or does it have to be 1x for stalking? I also wanted to go digital so I could record with it when not stalking??

A 1x is much better for stalking and spotting. A magnifier lens can then be added when you need to see further when you are not moving. As Bill said it is really hard to walk with a magnified NV device. You can sometimes find GEN II goggles on e-bay in the $700-$1000 range. I bought a nice pair for a friend a while back for $900 I think.

Inexpensive, good and NV doesn't go together .................
PVS-14 with a mil-spec 3x magnifyer is the only way to go, but they are not cheap. Best piece of NV gear I own. _________________ Bill Wilson
