Guy's, I took my boys camping on the Brazos river this weekend. We camped out by the river, and fished Saturday and Sunday. It was one of those trips you never forget. The fishing was great! We caught a LOT of undersized specks and redfish. But, we caught a few keepers to stink the grease with.

It was sure nice spending some quality time with my boys. They didn't even mess with their Ipods or phones while we were there. We just got muddy, ate good, and caught lots of fish. Can't wait to do it again!! Very Happy

Yea, it was refreshing. Laughing Since we've not had any rain in so long the salt water from the gulf has made it's way up river about 30 miles. So, the speckled trout and redfish can be caught way up river. Normally at this spot, when the year has normal rain, we catch catfish or other fresh water fish. But, right now it's all salt water, and salt water fish at this spot.

We used lights and a generator at night and was catching one right after the other. It was great fun.

You had me going Miley. I grew up on the Brazos south of Waco, and was confused when you said you had landed some specks and redfish, until you mentioned the part about the low water allowing the salt water to come up the Brazos. Glad you and your boys had a great time. C'ya

Marty, about where were ya'll fishing. I cross the Brazos at Lake Jackson , Brazoria, and below several times a week, and it has been clear and green - and salty - just about all summer. With the high tides most of the summer, there are creeks that normally empty into the San Bernard near my place that have been holding water that has to be backing up from the river.

We were fishing near the FM2004 bridge, about a half mile up stream.

I cross that one regularly, and the water has certainly been pretty. Thanks for the confirmation of trout and reds that far up.
