I watched that show "hogs gone wild" I know people have opinions about the content but I don't want to get into that. I personally have never seen people hunt hogs with dogs and all I know is what I have read here and seen on youtube. I thought L3Outdoors did a great job showing how hog doggers care for their dog like a team member and protect them from harm in any means possible. I never knew much about the diff between catch dogs and bay dogs. I knew people used Pittbulls, but seeing a GREAT DANE a breed I have been around and prob one of my fav breeds hunting hogs was very interesting. Also seeing a member of this board on the show was very cool. Congrats L3Outdoors on the endeavor and I wish you much luck, I look forward to seeing y'all on upcoming episodes.

Thank you very much for the kind words. There are so many behind the camera things that go into making a show like this that most arm chair quarterbacks don't even think of before there mouth opens. One thing that people don't know is we had 12 camera/sound men, 2 producers, and the land owner and family following us on our hunts. It's hard to kill a hog alone without all these people following us around. As far as the Danes go I have hunted 11 pure Danes all from pet breeders and all of them made above average hunting dogs. Not bad for a bunch of dogs that used to be someones pets. They make good hunting dogs with good nose and tons of drive if you get a good healthy dog. Mr, Mason has trained and hunted one of my Danes and liked it so if it's a breed you like then have at it.

Also forgot to tell ya that the Dane is one of the oldest boar hunting breeds in writen history. For a breed to survive hunters for that many years they had to be doing something wright.

I have to agree,
thats something that really slipped the attention of most of the critics including myself Exclamation Shocked
ONE GOOD THING that did shine a POSATIVE LIGHT from that wreck of a show! The fact that L3Outddors properly CARED FOR their dogs, properly TRAINED their dogs, and properly PROTECTED their dogs. The dogs seemed to do a dang good job Exclamation

THIS IS THE KIND OF STUFF WE'RE LOOKING FOR L3OUTDOORS!

I noticed that Dane sat on your vehicle READY POUNCE, like lion.
BUT the dog remained focussed and on that vehicle UNTILL THE TRAINERS RELEASED IT! SENT THE DOG IN THE DIRECTION THEY WANTED IT TO GO and as a result the dog worked AS A TEAM MEMBER!

I've see dogs run the other way they were so porrly trained, and then we'd spend ALL DAY looking for those dogs while hogs laughed at us!

This is the kind of stuff WE WANT TO SEE and LEARN! This is what TEXASBOARS wants to PROMOTE AND SUPPORT!

L3OUTDOORS, tell us more about your breeds and your training! (start a new post if you'd like). DO YOU HAVE A WEBSITE? Please post it! DO you have any ARTICLES that you have written, feel free to let us know where we can find them.

What you want see till later in the show is that we hunt our dogs every way we can. Walk hunting, Spotlighting, winding from a truck or ATV, casting, roading, and even night vision and FLIR systems. Anything that increases our chances of finding pigs we use. For example we can use a FLIR system to see tracks on the ground left by a pig that a dog might have a hard time following because the wind is wrong or hot dry conditions. We think outside the box as much as we can. On the first two properties we hunted on the show the land owners insisted that we not carry any guns around there livestock or deer. We also had to walk our dogs through herds of deer and cattle to prove to the land owners they wouldn't chase anything but a pig.

As Josh said, I worked and hunted with one of his dogs and it was inpressive. This dog after it got over the was it alright went too hunting winding and tracking and could find a hog, well mannered, and after some exposer was equiped too hold a large hog.

Yes, I was empressed and enjoyed hunting with it, very fast learner.
