Got this hefty hawg using my D&M custom
swimbait in babybass color. I threw the lure
right smack in the middle of three hungry
Bass chasing small peacock bass. This baby
hit my lure like a mac truck!
Take care.

Hey txbigbossman
Yes sir, few things beat a good day of bass fishin.

Hey skip
Well, they get pretty darn big here in Florida.
Even though the record was caught in California,
it was actually a Florida sub species which was
introduced to Cali awhile back. The Florida subspecies
are the largest. Not rare to see one swallow a duckling
and even small turtles.

Did that Ca bass hold true for the record? I'd heard their was some discrepancy that got it disqualified and the original record out of Georgia was reinstated.

If you are talking about that monster in Dixon Lake in Escondido, CA, the answer is no, it did not hold up. But it wasn't due to not being bigger. He foul hooked her and was honest enough to admit it.

I lived 5 miles from Dixon and fished there regularly. Had the pleasure of seeing that fish on a bed, though she wouldn't take the crawfish jig I kept bouncing off her head.

Sadly, she was found floating dead during the taping of a National Geographic show focused on catching her and having the record fish certified.

You would not believe how small that place is. It's really a reservoir and not a lake at all. The placement of the dam in that canyon is what allows the water depth to be so great. Catfishing at the bouy marker at night is awesome too.

Here are some of the bass I did pull out of Dixon.
