As you may have remembered, I had to put my Rottweiler down in February after 11 years.
New dog is Doro, short for Doroteo, really short for his papers of Doroteo De Cordoba, he is a Dogo Argentino.
He got shipped in from the breeder in Florida today, got to see the states as he went from Miami to New Jersey to Houston to here in Albuquerque, 10 hours of traveling.
Gave him some water when i picked him up, took him out back and he did his duties, brought him in the house, he checked it out, wanted to play like crazy. He is all love when holding him, and crazy when you put him down lol.
Needless to say he adapted to his kennel and crashed out lol:

Good grief, sure seems like a crazy route they used to finally get him over your way.
Congrats, glad to see all is going well once he got there. _________________ TB Forum Janitor |

David, I can identify. Burying my 9 year old Catahoula this morning. He had been sick for about a month, still waiting on results of blood work to hopefully find out what got him. Might have been cancer. At least I got to bring him home from the vet yesterday, so he could pass away here with us.
We had to have our female put down this year already, after she had an apparent stroke.
Since my other dog is a 4 year old out of these two and is deaf, we had already gotten a new Catahoula pup to keep him company - and be his "ears" - knew there was a chance Mack wouldn't make it. Just sad Macky didn't get to help "train" the new one, as he always loved puppies.
Mack traced his heritage on one side to Mr. Mason's bloodline. He was a loyal, good friend, and maybe the smartest dog I've ever known. I gave a pup to one of my brothers out of our last litter four years ago, and he says he'll never have another dog that's not a Catahoula. Exactly how I feel.
Lost one of my closest human friends this year to cancer, not a real happy year so far, in many ways. |

yep i can relate Mike, I put down my Rottie back in Feb, I have a friend with stage 4 colon cancer and another with stage 4 lung cancer, nasty darn disease.
we relate a lot to dogs that we've owned, i would recommend to anyone to get a Rottweiler, and as the Dog Whisperer says....i've got Rottweilers at the house and don't have to worry about anyone hurting my wife or kids....lol |

for those of you that remember, last year while elk hunting, we found a Walker hound pup, probably only about 4 months old...
well I took my Dogo pup over to my hunting partners house, he has the Walker, his name is Tracker, he is getting pretty big now, here is the two of them:

yea quite a few guys using them as catch dogs, in Argentina where they originated, they mostly use a pack of Dogo's to hunt boar or puma....
he is a biting little machine, although he is learning, he gets out and the backyard and doesn't want to come and will run away, so going to have to work on that, and i can't run, so no chasing him, ,which you're not supposed to do anyways....but he is definitely bold, i'm thinking he may have been the alpha pup but she said he wasn't, but had been getting in fights recently with the other pups trying to establish dominance... |

The Dogo was created in Argentina starting back in the 20's. The starting dog was the Fighting Dog of Cordoba, which is now extinct as it had a bad attitude and didn't get along with other dogs and even people.
They then wanted to get out the aggression, make it dog and people friendly, but the main goal is that it is a hunter for boar and puma. The breeding included the Fightind Dog of Cordoba, Great Dane, Boxer, Spanish Mastiff, Old English Bulldog, Bull Terrier, Great Pyrenees, Pointer, Irish Wolfhound and Dogue de Bordeaux |

Well Doro got his ears cropped a couple of weeks ago, stitches removed on Monday. Many people think it is cruel and hurts the pups, but as I read online, puppies rarely exhibit any pain from the surgery, same with my pup, he ran around like a maniac with that e-collar on, and actually broke it lol.
So here he is, 12 days after the surgery and now weighing just over 30 pounds at 13 weeks old:
