Never handled the Judge, but I can say the 45Colt will certainly do in a hog with proper shot placement and within short (10-35yd)ranges..
If you handload, or buy premium hunting loads in the 250-300gr range from makers like Buffalo Bore, or Corbon, the range might be extended a bit, but practice will be a painful experience, both physical, and financial.. Rolling Eyes

Well, a quick search finds a similar load at ~810 fps. Shot placement will be critical. Range will be limited by how well you can put an accurate shot in a pile of porker.

Personally, I'd want a bit more stomp in my loading. I'm sure the best load will be rather uncomfortable to launch in a small pistol . Hard cast bullets penetrate better than HP bullets. Penetration is a good thing in hog busting.

If I recall the load properly. 8.5 gr Unique, 250 EXP, out of 5 3/4 judge went in left front leg, through chest and out right front leg, 250 lb sow didn't survive. With bone and bullet fragments the meat from both legs was not saved. Penetration was not a problem. I will use it again.
