My friend got a 170 pound boar DRT. He went out before I got here and nailed him just after sunset eating hay with the cattle. Now hopefully soon it will be my turn to use my new toy!

We just got 3 out of 4. I got a 290lb boar and a 175lb boar DRT. My friend got a nice 170lb black and white spotted boar. He hit the other one and he crumpled but no body when we went to weigh and measure them. My suppressor did not sound that much quieter than his unsuppressed rifle. Dissapointing.

I got a gemtech 30 cal can. I had to be the area where I shot them. I was a low open area with a pond and a creek. It was cold damp and no wind. Later in the night I shot again and it was quieter again. I just don't have enough experience with it to judge yet.

Looks like another DRT ear shot. Amazing! Huey is it the muzzle blast, or the rifle's action that making all the noise?? Just wondering? what's Randy have to say about it??

I had my friend fire it across a field with me standing off halfway between him and the target. It was loud still but the sound was coming from the target side. It's the sonic crack and the bullet impact making the noise. Also had him fire his unsurpressed 6.8 when compared it's a huge difference. I shot the hog in the forehead he's just bleeding out the ears for some unknown reason. Lol

Did you shoot him head on? If so I'm surprised. He's built like a panther tank with that sloped forehead and all, lucky it didn't bounce off him.

Huey, we have found the same phenomenon. Depending on terrain and surrounding vegetation the suppressed rifles will sound louder at times than others. Last week I could hear Randy's hunter shoot his suppressed .44 subsonic at a range of almost a half mile. No doubt the stiff wind had a part in "blowing" the sound our way. I'm sure someone knows the physics behind it all. Simply put, it's perceived to be quieter some times than others.

I think Burt wrote about it earlier. It's called "acoustic shadow" and has been documented a lot. Happened quite a bit during the Civil War. Topography creates a mirage-like effect with the sound. Wind can play a part also.

Yea Colby I shot him head on. His back was to me when I shot the other one. I expected him to bolt but instead he turned back right towards me. I'm thinking maybe he thought the impact behind him was the shot and trying to run away ran towards me. Thanks Gerald we played with both 6.8's a bunch today and it goes from .22 quiet to what seems pretty loud. It's just my inexperience with them and not knowing what it should and shouldn't do. It really helped having the unsuppressed rifle to compare it to.

On a different property tonight. Not a single picture of a hog since 6:30pm Jan 3rd. Not a good sign.

My place is still getting tore up, but tonight isn't looking good. I've heard a squeal twice but that's it.

Seems like every hog dog in lee county is around. I've heard 2 caught hogs do far tonight so they're are running them pretty hard next door. Maybe I'll get lucky and they'll run em this way!

My friend sent me an app that predicts game feeding and movement times. It rates tonight a one out of five stars. But the only major activity time listed is 1:50a-3:50am. It let's you go back and see days in the past also. Since I've been keeping date time and location records of my kills I checked them against it. It seems like there may be something to it.

It's called "Best hunting times.". It's a solunar based app. I called BS when my friend was using it. But like I said it seems to have something going for it when compared to my data. Worst case scenario it gives moon percentage, sunrise, sunset and weather data.

Well I stayed out till 5:30am only spotted deer, coons, skunks, coyotes, and a woman no hogs. Found this woman walking along the road at 3:45am sweat pants and a t-shirt. It's always kinda spooky when your in the middle of nowhere and spot another person I can't imagine how it was for her guy drives up no lights camo and helmet on lol. She got in a fight with her boyfriend and he threw her out on the highway she had walked about 4 miles to get here I gave her a ride to her mothers house about four more miles wow. As far as hogs looks like it's a repeat of last year went from overrun to not a single track or sign on the whole place. Guess I'll give this place a rest for a few months.

Spooky! Shocked Surely Huey, you've heard the tale of a young female having been murdered years ago on a lonely stretch of an East Texas road. And from time to time re-appears along a deserted stretch of a road, and given a ride by an unsuspecting motorist to her home. And when the motorist later makes a return trip past this home, stops to check on the welfare of this young lady. Only to be told by the mother of the young woman, of the long ago murder of her daughter, and the number of motorist that have returned, time and time again, to check on her. Shocked Shocked C'ya Rolling Eyes
