Well I firmed it up today, got the lease manager fired, talked to the Lease Owner/Signor and firmed up my spot for next year!

Our leases run May to May here but deer season is over Feb 19th. Beginning on the 19th I will be moving and take over the new area. This is great because my hunting Buddy has the parcel next door so we can combine everything, over 400 acres of swamps, creeks just loaded with hogs living there and moving thru. Also My other buddy that is seldom here, he lives 6 hrs from the lease, will allow us to hunt his 400 acres that adjoins our parcel! This just keeps getting better! During the off Deer season, 9 mos a year, we have the run of over 2000 acres to cull the hogs, using all the roads, trails and whatever we need!

No common roads and no one passing by, we are at the end of the road which means we can put more resources in place for our use. Camping area, skinning rack, storage areas and such. Not as expansive as you guys have to hunt but hog heavy and great for us, he wants at least 150 hogs taken out this year which is about 1/3 of the resident population!

Will start posting pics of the areas in this topic as I get them in!

My lease allows guests and IF ever any of you are in this area or just want to make a road trip I invite you to hunt w me! I will even waive the $50 guest fee we get for the corn baiting, so you all have my PM...and that is all I am saying about that!

Sounds like a wonderful place to hunt Frank. Should be lots of fun. One of my favorite parts of the hunting hobbie is getting a new spot ready to hunt. I really enjoy the preperations for the hunting. Figuring out the best ways to set-up the hunt area is always a great challenge and will have a huge impact on your success. I love to plan for the wind and where to place feeders and bait areas and of course which way is the best approach for different wind directions.
Good luck!!!!!!!!!
Randy

Thanks Randy, yeah the prep work is the most fun and the satisfaction when a hunt is over you did a good job. My hunting Buddy is from here but was a guide in Maine also, he is anal about getting things right and making successful hunts happen.

We cannot charge for hunts but are going to impose a $50 bait fee to bring folks out. We will start with 6 feeders and 6 barrels, you know what it takes to feed those plus the supplemental bait. He is also going to buy a UTV and put a light bar on top with Kevin's sendero 500 RPG(3 light setup, think that is the right #) lights on top to drive the roads and trails. We should have alot of fun this year! This buys us the lease till Jun 1 2013.

Will the UTV be gas or electric? The electric may not run as long and as far as a gas UTV, but I heard that they are super quiet.

Paul we have no place to charge it and will get the gas one from Home depot, $3795, they are much quieter than a gas golf cart and will be OK for us.

Easygo bought Bad Boy Buggies, we looked at them for 10K but just too much

Frank, I would suggest that you never shoot hogs from a vehicle that you use for spotting or scouting. You will quickly teach them that the vehicle is danger and every time it comes near they will scatter like roaches as soon as they hear it. My suggestion would be to use it to feed so they will associate it with the food and then when you hunt, disassociate yourself with the vehicle before you shoot so they don't put the two together. I know it seems like a great tool, but it will likely only work for a short period of time. Just my thoughts.

Frank, I've seen the cart situation happen with friends. It works great for a short time and then they learn that when they hear it you are on the way with bullets so they scatter before you ever see them.

Randy, I bet you are right after thinking about it, they learn everything else so quickly. And we were getting a gas cart, not totally silent either.

Pic heavy so head to the link to see the first pics of our area. Started the feeders, they have not had corn in 2 years but the plots have been planted. Cleaned up the towers and put an inside the lease gate up. we are covering right at 400 acres behind the gate and right now places for 5 distinct hunting areas.
