I had a 16 inch 6.8 upper from rock river arms. A buddy of mine was too in love with it so I sold it to him. This summer, I will be buying another one. _________________ Keep your pants and powder dry! |

As said above...16" is easier to carry, the weight difference is more than you think!

i prefer the 16", you don't get much more velocity out of the 18" and I think for portability and aneuverability the 16" is better......18" isn't too bad so its a good choice also....my preference is 16"
and Colby is right, make sure SPC II or 6.8x43 chamber, 1:11 twist or slower....Wilson barrels at 1:11, 4 groove, SPC II |

Ok then I will go with the 16" and the 1:11 twist. I am going to be putting a dark earth stock, dark earth pmag, and dark earth grips so hopefully it will turn out good! _________________ God Bless Our Troops!!!!! |

On that gun is the PWS-30 made by Primary Weapons Systems, supposed to be one of the best muzzle brake/flash suppressors out there....its main focus is on muzzle braking and not flash suppression
http://primaryweapons.com/store/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=37&idcategory=6
from their site:
"The Flash Suppressing Compensator (FSC) series of muzzle devices from PWS provides superior compensation characteristics combined with enough flash suppression to keep the flash out of your optics and line of sight. Designed for both competitive and tactical use, the FSC series allows for superior muzzle stabilization and aids the shooter in faster follow up shots and accuracy.
The unique port design of the FSC series yields muzzle control that meets or exceeds the performance of the best muzzle brakes on the market without the teeth rattling overpressure indicative of other brakes and compensators.
The FSC Series muzzle devices are the only compensators on the market backed by a money back guarantee. If you buy one, install it, shoot it and are not amazed by the performance, send it back and we will happily refund your purchase price."

| same I edited the above post...was thinking on the PWS30 was more for flash suppression, but it is more for muzzle braking....it keeps the gun flat when shooting |

Dunno about that one, but some of those muzzle brakes make things really loud also.
Just thought I'd mention that. ( Not that they are quiet to start with ) _________________ Ban guns to eliminate crime ?

| yep agreed Burt, it isn't the quietest device out there for sure....however when shooting if you want to take multiple shots its like shooting a .22 mag out of my 6.8... |

Wow a .22 mag?! I have shot a 6.8 before and one of the reason's I liked it so much is because of the low recoil but a .22 mag?! Thats pretty impressive. That is definitly at the top of my list of upgrades now! @Burt thanks for the heads up, right now im not conserned with noise but good to know. _________________ God Bless Our Troops!!!!! |

Thanks to hearing loss accumulated over the years, I won't be concerned about
noise soon enough either.
My point being, wear some type of hearing protection. They make headphones
that listen, but also cut out when a gun goes off. You can hunt without giving up
hearing noises around you. You should look into it if you haven't already. _________________ Ban guns to eliminate crime ?

Yessir I definitly will be using hearing protection. I saw those a while ago but will look em up again. I thought you were saying to that the problem with it being louder is that it would scare animals away but now I gotcha. _________________ God Bless Our Troops!!!!! |

yea i've got a pair of electronic ear muffs, great for hunting ...
Sam, that is just a foregrip...no a bipod, there is some really cool bipods out there that fold up really nice....if you like the foregrip, i'm not using it, if you set up your AR in dark earth color, let me know, will send you one for free |

Ok so this is what I am looking at right now:
Lower: Magpul MOE stock in dark earth, Plumb crazy stripped lower, dark earth pistol grip(not sure which kind yet), magpul pmag in dark earth and a standard trigger.
Upper:
Wilson 6.8 spc II 16" stainless barrel, some type of quad rail(don't know which to get?), and I think I am going to top it with a leupold 4-12x40 mark I. So what do yall think?
PS future add ons will be: Muzzle brake, RRA two stage trigger(cant think of any now im sure I will think of some later) _________________ God Bless Our Troops!!!!! |

Sam, have you looked at bison armory or AR preformance? Both put out great products for a good price.
Also I like my EGRO grip
And one more thing, you can't go wrong with the RRA two-stage trigger!!! _________________ 2011- 055 Confirmed Kills
