Got these fellas all out same mob in a small 40 acre wheat stubble paddock with mountains on one side and a creek on the other.. cleaned em up with 3 dogs and a mate shot 1 as they were bolting for the hills.. all varied from small fella went 90lbs and the biggest guy in middle went 195lbs and had some half decent hooks..

Gary, Can you sell the meat there? Catch the hogs live and sell them? Or is it all for personal use?

Gary, that is not a bad price, different states have different rules here. I am in Fl and we cannot sell the meat. So tell us about the Roo hunting.

roos ok in small doses very lean and healthy for u..

its all run by the government and heavily scrutinised obviously due to us harvesting our coat of arms lol u need to pass an accuracy test and the roos must be cleanly headshot.. u purchase a certain amount of tags relevant to the property size and location and also have quotas for seasons.. there are aerial surveys done and safe zones where no culling can be done to ensure good roo numbers.. roos must be of a certain size and dressed out correctly Wink heavy fines apply for not complying with rules aswell and loss of licence.. its a full time job for a lot of folks over here.. we get some bloody big roos in excess of 60-70 kg dressed a big red roo male can reach and well over 7ft tall!

Garry, I heard that roos in Oz are about as big if a problem down there as hogs are in Texas or as prarie dogs are throughout the Southwestern part of the U.S.. Say, that's an idea! If you don't have any prarie dogs down there, I'll gladly trade you a boat load of prarie dogs for 2 male and 6 female red roos.

P.S. - Would someone post how many pounds equal a kelo. I never did figure out the metric system. Thx

haha yeah billy theres a boatload of roos in some parts.. i only shoot part time u know 12 here 15 there.. but mates of mine that do it for a living can shoot up to 50-60 in a night Shocked tough work aye..

and Frank T can be very challenging when the roos are "bomby" = touchy and add some wind and their lil head at 100-250m it can be fun and frustrating lol i use a 22-250 ruger varmint target rifle with a fixed 8x scope shooting 55grain soft points and 33grains of powder.. they travel very flast and fast.. good for puttin down the odd hog aswell Wink

Billy, I thought I knew but I did look it up rather than giving wrong info on this site!

Great topic Gary, learning as we go, always nice to get another perspective. Is the roo meat sold also or just the hides sold?
Do you live in the country or live and work in a town?
