|
|
| I started a pet project years ago with a mosin nagant.. I put on a synthetic stock, had a gunsmith drill and tap a scope mount on and put a new bent bolt handle on it.. Well its been sitting in my closet after going to the range and having a broken scope on it a couple of years ago. Pulled it out today, rescoped it and took it to the range. Got 1" groupings at 100 yards.. Guess its time to de-virginize it tomorrow. Heading out to the ranch to hunt...... The one thing I do not like about the rifle is how HEAVY it is.. When the Russians built them they were made to last FOREVER!!!! |

The 7.62 x 54R is right in there with the .30-06 and .308 Win in terms of power.
It might hurt those hogs a little. _________________ Ban guns to eliminate crime ?

| When I made it it was for pig hunting. I like older rifles.... The thing I dont like it not in its origional condition. All of my other surplus arms are in origional condition and that is the way that they will stay.... |

My friend got one and we called it a "moist nugget". It gets good groupings at 100 yds too, but wish I had a bigger range to see what it can do out to 300 or so.

| I still get them for $69.99 from Century with my C&R FFL.... not a bad price for a rifle to play with. |

| I loaned my brother my Swiss K-31 cal. 7.5x55 rifle for a hog hunt last December. Three hogs were killed with that rifle in one day. It shoots very well. It will easly hold the ten-ring at 200yd. It's the best $200 rifle I have ever owned. My next outing with the Swiss K-31 will be the Vintage Rifle Match at Camp Perry this August. Another good military rifle for hogs is the Lee-Enfield 303 British. It's has been used to kill many hogs in Australia. It's a lot of fun to hunt with those old rifles. They will do the job. Good luck with your 7.62x54. |
