how do you go about training a RCD? or is it they either do it or they don't?

RCD is a dog that runs with the pack and hunts but is straight catch.
Lot of people have gritty dogs that catch but have a problem with turning loose.

You first start a RCD just like you would any catch dog, on a lead in type. When it has mastered this you can start turning it loose from a longer distence and get too the point that you just let it run with the other dogs or hunt on it's own. Keep in mine that when it catches that you might not be able too hear it so will need a bay dog too tell you where it is. A lot of one out dogs are just running catch dogs, they hunt, find, catch, and hold.

do you run them with a just a regular cut collar?

No, I use a running vest on them with a built in cut collar. Running vest just covers the chest and front sholders and still gives them a lot of movement. I try to train bay dogs not to catch and will try to protect all my dogs best way I can.

Vest comes from Wild Boar USA, have too ask for a bay vest or running catch vest.

First off you are going to need a few things. GPS tracker, Quality E-Collar, Quality breastplate, or cut gear, and time.

Start by teaching the dog the basic commands until the dog is very good at them, then teach the dog the same commands again with the E-collar and remember you NEVER teach with the E-collar only back up what the dog already knows. Good solid consitant training will mean the difference between a good hunt and a hunt that might hurt your reputation and other doggers reps as well. You know the frase "guilt by association" so please train and hunt the dog safely.

After the dog is fully trained then I would start walking the dog into a bay or catch after the older trusted dogs have a hog only letting let the young dog go once you see the hog. Build the dogs confedence then start breacking the dog off cattle and deer the same way you trained the dog the basic commands.

Then you can start running the young dog with an older dog but watch him like a hawk until he proves he can be trusted and then watch him as if he can't be trusted. Any dog with a lot of drive will be hard to brake in most case's and should always be watched because after all they are just animals.
