The 2010-2011 Special Drawing Hunts Application booklet arrived last Friday, June 25th offering a variety of Hunt Category opportunities and numerous Hunt Areas to choose from within the draw booklet.
If you applied for any last year, you will automatically receive the draw hunt booklet for this year and it should be the first or second week of July; this is the same each year.
If you did not apply for any of the hunts last year, they can be obtained at any of our District Law Enforcement offices or our headquarters if you live in close proximity to any of those locations. http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/warden/office_locations/
If not, TPWD can send you a Special Drawing Hunt booklet in the mail by calling 800-792-1112, ext. 51 |

Got mine yesterday...Well where, and what are we gonna hunt this year?
I haven't applied since 2005, my first draw and I got Gun Deer Either Sex at Richland Creek WMA, Gun Deer Antlerless & Spike at Gus Engling, and Archery Deer Either Sex at Fairfield State Park...Hunter = 0...Deer = 1 at all three... I only saw deer going to my hunt areas, never in my assigned areas
I think I've given them long enough to recover from their first exposure to me..Now I'm going to try and get another draw I'd bet the odds are not in my favor of multiple draws again..any takers?

Good luck to ya Bill!
If any of you would like a Special Drawing Hunt booklet, let me know...I can put one in the mail to you if you do not live in close proximity to our District Law Enforcement offices, HQ or any State Park that offers a draw hunt.

| I've drawn out four times - once for Black Gap, and three times for Chaparral. Simply the most fantastic hunting opportunity in Texas. We always got the limit. Since Chaparral put a game fence around their unit, the hunting hasn't been as productive as in past years. Black Gap could be interesting if they will allow one illegal along with the deer and hogs. If you've never tried it, by all means out in your application - you'll love it. |
