|
|
| OK guys, I finally took your advice and recently cut the hog panel floor our of my trap with a pair of bolt cutters. I've been reluctant to do it but I want to tell everyone here that it was the best thing I ever did. Since I cut out the floor, I've caught hogs every time I've baited the trap - sometimes two at a time. If any of you still have a floor in your trap and have been considering getting rid of it, I can wholeheartedly tell you without a doubt that no floor is better. |

i have floors and once they get use to going in and out of the trap its not a problem. My problem is them finding the trap. right now on our lease they are like a ant hill thats just been stepped on. they're everywhere with an over abundance of food. _________________ Hogs are my cash crop! |

| The hogs really don't seem to like the wire floor. I cut the floor out of my trap and started catching also, but I had a problem keeping it staked down, so I put a plywood floor back in and the hogs don't mind the plywood at all and they can't root there way out. I just bolted it to the trap with some 1/4 in bolts. Glad you are having good luck, keep after em. |

I too agree, they don't like a wire floor. Wood with dirt on it seems to be fine.

The ones we have built lately have only 2-1x2 tubing brackets inside, one of which is the trigger.
All the corall`s are built on the
lay of the land too.
They are tromping in and out and I`m setting them tomarrow.
It`s finally dry enough...
The solid wire ones are abandoned...
No trails being used at all.
So I must agree as well.
Best of luck...

I agree the hogs don't like to walk on the bare wire panels in the floor, but some do go in and are caught. I have floors in all of my traps, but always shovel dirt inside to cover the floor. That makes a big difference.
I have used traps with floors of plywood, cattle panel, and also expanded metal. They all work well, but do get covered with dirt.
